Vimy Ridge 1917:
one of the most heavily mined
areas on earth - where British and
German tunnellers fought for supremacy in a bitter underground struggle
to dominate this vital and commanding position on the Western
front.
In an unprecedented effort to gain access to the British 'O' SECTOR deep mining system and investigate the labyrinth of tunnels and chambers within, the Group utilise technology to its extreme, culminating in the discovery and neutralisation - fully recorded on camera - of an operational 950lb (432kg) British Camouflet mine, laid in 1916 by British Army Sappers.
An underground bomb store reveals its secrets; so too the walls of the tunnels themselves - etched with graffiti from the men who lived, fought and died in this troglodyte world sixty feet below the craters of no mans land.
This substantial 98 minute DVD report is augmented by a wealth of additional material contained in a ROM folder on the disc. Orbats, diaries, maps, plans and photographs - all sourced from national archives - are supported by extra interviews and features.
